Chairs

All the chairs stood obediently in rows, except for a few pushed aside by a couple of hands-on, wiggly boys  that follow me everywhere I go ;) People came in a few at a time. Some surveyed the obedient chairs as they passed through the door way, scouting out a route to their desired location that didn't involve any of the usual empty, "Hi, how are you- I'm good how are you- good".  Other people ignored the chairs and scouted people instead. They mingled and laughed loudly, tugging their kids along.

Over the sound system the meeting was called to begin, and  the minglers joined the sitters in the unmoving rows of chairs. The music began, and little pockets of people began to engage. Hands were raised, people stood to their feet or hunkered down into a quiet place among the crowd. Corporately, yet individually, the people interacted worship-fully with their Creator.

The chairs used to be an invitation, with their open seats waiting to be occupied. The chairs used to ask the people to come together, to unify. Now, as Heaven called earth forward, the chairs began to hold the people back. The rows were too narrow, too near to earth.

Someone was needed to turn to the crowd and call out to the people, shouting:

STOP WAITING! Let us, with each drum beat, charge the Lord's army forward! Worship is a victory dance! Let the crowd surge forward, out of their places, marching on toward Heaven! WE ARE NOT WAITING ANYMORE!!

The Jews spent many, many years waiting for a Savior. And He came! As we wait for that Savior to return, let us not forget what He did when He was here... Jesus said in one of his parables (about sheep :) ) that He came that we may have LIFE, and have it TO THE FULL. (John 10) I think He means NOW!

Jesus also said,
"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." John 14:12

Come surging out of your seat, fellow believers! Your seat was an invitation, and now it is time to rise up, and charge forward in victory-worship! Don't wait anymore- the Savior HAS come, and passed the torch to us for a time! Dance in His victory, and welcome "life to the full"!

P.s. I'm so, so new to seeing life like this. I have spent lots of years waiting... waiting for Heaven. Only recently has it really sunk in that Jesus didn't die for us so we could wait some more. I know there are portions of "life to the full" that will only be complete after Jesus returns, but I am discovering that there are HUGE PORTIONS of "life to the full" that I have been sitting in my seat, allowing to pass me by. I don't always know what keeps my arms at my side or my body still, but I'm starting to itch for freedom. I want as much as I can get of the life He gives, this side of Heaven.

This is how Jesus told us to pray:

 “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven...

("The Lord's prayer goes on, found in Luke 11)

Pendulum

Boy, where do I start this time? I think I will just be sporadic, with excerpts from an email to dear friends, and some thoughts I want to write about while they are fresh. This post may not be for the faint of heart... grab a cup of tea before reading on. I woke up at 6 this morning to some bleeding (not much, but definitely enough to know it was blood). I felt a trickle as I woke up, and more as I stood. I used the toilet and confirmed what I felt. I sat in the bathroom and breathed out loud, "okay..." My head and my heart began to race. We already had scheduled the Dr.'s first appointment of the day, so I got in the shower to pray, cry, and prepare for the day. I prayed that God would walk closely with me. I prayed that God would receive Evelyn with sweet music and roses. I told God how afraid I was of the coming hours, and most fervently I prayed that God would prepare my husband to hear of my bleeding (he was still asleep). After my shower I told Josh, and t...

Small Victory

I have a small victory to share with you:  Let me give some context... I blogged about the loss of children recently, verbally stomping my feet and telling the enemy that I will have no more of it- and that I have chosen my side and refuse to budge. The children God has given me "on loan" are all so different... Jonathan was an easy baby, and is currently a whirl-wind 3 1/2 yr old- he is FULL of energy, curiosity, music, rythm, he is friendly, relational, deep (yes, deep!), always thinking, processing, talking... He knows about God and that Jesus is real, and he knows that his baby sister Evelyn is safe with Jesus. Henry was a difficult baby, and is an easy 2 yr-old!  He adores his  brother and wants to be where he is, he gives AMAZING hugs, likes to be held, likes books, connects quickly with people, is caring, noisy, talkative, fast... and still has his innocence. He likes to pray. Evelyn has changed my life more than anything. Her body was tiny, but her exis...

Canning

When I hang up my apron after 10 pm, 3 days in a row- it's been a good week :) I've been canning like a wild-woman! The last few days has been apple pie filling (new for me this year!), crock-pot apple butter (also new), and crock-pot applesause (...also new. ). My mom and I have done applesauce together, but we've never tried it in the crock pot. So far, I love it!! After the apple pie filling, I did the apple butter (sauce is cooling on the counter right now)- chopped up 10 apples, tossed them in the crock pot with a little water, lots of sugar, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, and turned it on high for 5ish hours (stirring occasionally). I put it all in the crock pot during nap time, and strained out the peels and canned it after the kids went to bed- easiest canning I've ever done.  ...also the only canning I've ever done by myself! My mom picked up a canning pot this week to be my very own, and my mom-in-law bought me the tongs/funnel/etc last year for Christmas....
